Dusting off the cobwebs

Mar

And so life continues to get in the way of blogging.  It’s great, of course, that we are getting loads of people in to see the house, and that things are starting to move in the right direction.  However, we’ve had at least one group of people in to see the house every day since the middle of last week.  Which means we aren’t doing anything but tidying. And trying to make it look like we don’t really live here.  Real estate is lame.

So what are you up to? What’s new? What would you like to share? Anybody left out there?

What are you watching on tv? My tv is perpetually stuck on cartoons so that I can use them to babysit the kids while I run and clean something else.  I’m currently catching up on the Miley Cyrus-hosted episode of SNL while I write this post on my netbook.  I’m very behind. I’m pretty much only caught up on 30 Rock, The Office and Modern Family (sort of). I think I need to stick with humour and forget the drama. I have enough.

See any good movies lately? Managed to watch Never Let Me Go on the way back from Cuba on the plane. Beautifully shot – tragic story, of course.  My movie watching is so limited these days.  Hoping to book the babysitter soon.

Reading any good books lately? I started Great House by Nicole Krauss while on vacation and it’s wonderful. I have Love is a Mix Tape by Rob Sheffield lined up next on the Kobo, for book club. I also just received a copy of Ain’t Misbehavin’ by Alyson Schafer to review, and I’ll be giving one away on here soon.  So many good reads, so little time – except next week, I’ll have a bunch of free time. My first jury duty! I’m intrigued. Anyone have any jury duty tips to share?

I hope to check in more often on here soon. I would really like things to return to some semblance of normalcy. I miss clutter.  This house business better get wrapped up before I lose my mind. (any more than I already have–because seriously.  Seriously.)

The pause that refreshes

Mar

We went away. It was very good. I wish I had bottled up that feeling of being relaxed and almost stress-free so I could pop it open now and take a big swig. It’s already escaped me.

I think it was the best vacation we’ve ever had with the kids. It really was good. I’m sad to be back.

If you so desire, all of our photos can be found here.

(almost) Wordless Wednesday: Winter in the Backyard

Mar

I realized, suddenly, that this might be the last time the kids played in the snow in the back if we move before next winter. So I thought I’d better grab the camera. The dog was actually having the most fun. Damn dog.

Shipwreck

Mar

Another week goes by, another week spent shaking my head at the ridiculousness of everything. The worst stomach flu ever, hitting 3 out of 4 of us? Business trips? People wanting to see the house, who might actually buy it, when the house cleaners are bed ridden or out of the country? Gah. Gah. What a damn time we’ve been having.  I think to myself, once in a while, that I might like to write a blog post — and then another tidal wave of the ridiculous hits.

The salvage is that we’re meant to be going on holiday on Friday. Which I’m not supposed to say because you might break into my house. What, are you going to steal our dirty laundry? There’s a lot of it. You might need a truck.  I’m way behind on my chores.

Will the trip rescue us from the depths of our despair? Or just add to it? There’s a pretty good chance it’ll be the latter as this smarty pants decided to book air travel on March Break. Stay tuned. I might actually write a blog post about it. Or I might get knocked over by an oil tanker. Or whatever.
